Understanding your university deposit

When you accept your offer to study at Swinburne, you need to pay your university deposit. The amount is listed on your letter of offer and it goes towards your course (tuition) fee.

As an international student, you are required to have Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC). Swinburne can organise this for you through Medibank – our recommended provider. All you need to do is indicate this in your offer acceptance form and include the OSHC payment in your deposit.

Please note if you are a sponsored student who receives financial assitance from a government, organisation or company, you are not required to pay a deposit.

How is my course fee calculated?

Your course fee is based on how many units you are enrolled in for each teaching period (e.g. semester, block or term). Course fees at Swinburne are reviewed annually and subject to adjustments.

Why should I get my OSHC from Medibank?

Swinburne's preferred cover is Medibank’s Comprehensive OSHC, which provides a range of services to help cover medical and hospital costs while in Australia. The cover includes benefits that can't be purchased elsewhere, such as access to in-person support on our Hawthorn campus.

Paying through Flywire

You can pay your fees easily through our secure payment partner, Flywire. Payment options vary by home country and may include bank transfers, credit cards, e-payments, e-wallets and more.

Flywire will send you text and email updates each step of the way, including a confirmation when your payment is delivered.

If you need help with your payment, please visit Flywire’s support page.

Excluded regions

Due to international sanctions and regulations, Flywire is unable to accept payments from certain countries. More information is available through the Flywire website.

Paying by wire remittance

You may also pay by wire remittance. However, it is a longer process and not recommended if you require urgent visa documentation.

If you choose this option, clearly indicate your family name, given name and student ID number on your wire remittance receipt.

You must attach a copy of your receipt when you submit your offer acceptance form, so we can identify your payment in our bank account. You are responsible for all bank charges for the remittance.
