Competency-Based Supervision: From setting up the supervisory alliance to assessment | Psychology Masterclass Workshop
About the Workshop
The aim of this one-day masterclass is to describe best practices around competency-based supervision of provisional psychologists and registrars. This workshop will define competence and how to establish a supervisory model that is based on the clinical competencies, starting with setting up the supervisory alliance.
The areas of competence will be covered, as well as the methods for assessing them. Some of the key limitations of these methods will also be discussed. Strategies for addressing competency-based problems will be presented. What it means to be a competent supervisor, including providing supervision from a culturally and socially diverse lens, will also be covered.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is relevant to all board-approved supervisors involved in teaching and training postgraduate clinical psychology students who are supervising registrars and private psychologists.
